“ESTABLISHING OF A SYSTEM FOR STANDARDIZATION OF SERVICES FOR FREE LEGAL AID THAT CSOs ARE PROVIDING TO VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IN MACEDONIA”

standardizacija      Since October 1, 2012,  EcHO started the project as implementing partner within the Regional Strategic Plan of UN WOMEN for 2012-2013 in supporting the realization of the next long-term goal “Services in response to violence against women that are quality based on the needs of women- victims of violence, are available in Macedonia.”

standardizacija organizaciiPartner’s organizations which are involved in the implementation of the project are: Organization of Women - Strumica, Women’s Organization of the Municipality of Sveti Nikole, Sveti Nikole and Crisis Center Hope - Skopje.

Overall goal of the project  "Establishment of a system for standardization of services for free legal aid that Civil Society Organizations are providing to victims of domestic violence in Macedonia"  is to establish, promote and put in function model for standardization of the services for free legal aid to domestic violence' victims,  provided by CSOs.

This will improve the quality and allow standardized provision of free legal aid services by civil society organizations that are legitimate providers of free legal assistance to victims of domestic violence.

The establishment, promotion, standardization, formalization and maintenance of free legal aid' services offers multiple benefits for civil society organizations, for victims of domestic violence and for society as a whole.  For CSOs this system will mean a commitment of compliance and adherence to clearly defined minimum standards, will enable them to strengthen their capacity, to collaborate with other organizations that provide additional support services, will maintain and improve services quality and ensure its sustainability by obtaining funds through the system of free legal aid and other governmental and non-governmental sources.

The project contains a range of activities in which will actively participate all members of the so-called. “Small network of organizations”, which, supported by UN WOMEN, piloted the first standards for free legal aid services to victims of domestic violence, but also and other organizations that working in this field. The project also contains advocacy activities’ in which will be engaged members of the

National Network to combat violence against women and domestic violence.
The program provides an opportunity to organizations that working in this field in our country,  to improve and standardize their services for legal aid,  which is in line with current developments in the field of dealing with violence against women, specifically in accordance with the provisions of Convention  of Council of Europe on combating and preventing violence against women and domestic violence, which clearly states that non-governmental organizations are the key providers of specialized services in response to violence against women.
